Our History
The history of Bella Vista Coffee Estate is deeply connected to family, land, and vision.
In 1898, Arnold André Vessel, the family’s great-grandfather, arrived from Germany and purchased 550 hectares of land in Costa Rica. By 1904, he had established the coffee business that would lay the foundation for Bella Vista’s enduring legacy.
For generations, the estate has remained connected to the traditions of Tres Ríos — a region internationally admired for producing coffees of refinement, balance, and aromatic complexity. Today, Bella Vista stands as a continuation of that heritage: a coffee grown at origin, shaped by altitude, volcanic soil, and a long-standing commitment to quality.
